If you’re a regular reader on my blog, you‘ll know that I’m the one usually asking the questions with my “Day in the Life” blog series. So I thought to mix things up a bit, it would be nice for you to get to know me, as well as find new blogs to follow (I’ve linked each question to the blogger who asked me it).
As a Mumma, most of the questions are based around this, however if there’s anything you would like to ask me personally, please just pop me a message and I’ll be glad to get back to you.
Lets begin with a bit of background on me (for those of you who don’t know me). I‘m Steph, Mumma to 18 month old - and very cheeky - George. I’m a self-employed marketing professional, owner of WhiteLenz Marketing, who loves the outdoors, writing, cooking, swimming (or anything that involves water!) and spending time with family and friends.
Now that you know me a little better, let’s see what bloggers had to ask me....
My biggest challenge of being a parent so far?(Asked by @YuleTimes)
To be honest, you come across so many different challenges as a parent. But the most challenging of the challenges so far has got to be giving up the “old me“. You don’t realise (and certainly nobody told me) how hard being a parent is and to what extent you have to give things up. Obviously I knew I wouldn’t be out every weekend with friends, doing what I wanted when I wanted, but until recently I had lost my “Steph” identity and just became “Mum”.
I soon came to realise that this new little person depends on me and being a parent is far from easy. However, I wasn’t going to let that make me forget about “me”, spending quality time with Greg - my husband - and caring for my appearance, like I used to. Being a parent is so rewarding and the best thing in the world, but it can be damn hard. Just don’t forget about spending some regular “you time”.
How do I manage blogging around everything else in my life? (Asked by @ModernMumsLife)
In order of my priorities, my family comes first, followed by my business and then my blog. Basically, I never put pressure on myself to get a blog written at a particular time or day. Blogging is a big passion of mine, so I would never want to feel that I “have” to get one written and therefore see it as a chore.
Ideally I like to get one blog post written each week, but realistically this isn’t always possible. I don't put pressure on myself when it comes to blogging. However, I do ensure I stay active on my social media accounts.
What's been my biggest unexpected surprise of being a parent? (Asked by @WanderingPram)
Where do I start. There have been so many unexpected suprises, and George is only 18 months, so there's probably lots more to come. But the BIGGEST is realising how strong I can be. Nothing in the world prepares you for parenthood. Nothing. I thought I was pretty strong before George, but not compared to how I am now.
You'll do anything to protect and care for your child, whether that be stay up all night breastfeeding, comforting them for hours when they're poorly or teaching them right from wrong.
What has been my favourite motherhood moment so far? (Asked by @ThriceUponDream)
Obviously seeing my baby for the first time was my most favourite part, but that's inevitable. Apart from that, seeing George learn, grow and develop is the best thing. Every new thing he does amazes me and makes me so proud, there's nothing more rewarding. Crawling, rolling, walking, eating solid foods, talking, playing - to be honest, everything he does is my favourite. That's all part of being a parent though. I can't be the only parent that feels that way!
What are some of my favorite things to do to unwind and reduce stress? (Asked by @BlogBriana)
Just thinking about having a bath brings down my stress levels haha. That's one of my go-to chill out activities (not sure what else to call it).
Running my own business and being a Mummy can be hard at times, so it's important I get a bit of "me" time now and again. Whether that be going on a date with my Husband, having a bath or cooking (yes, cooking relaxes me). Sometimes, even just popping to the toilet for a bit of peace and quiet is enough!
What do I enjoy the most about blogging? (Asked by @iyayetunde1)
When I first began blogging, the whole reason I started was because I wanted to share my experiences with other people who might be in a similar situation. I shared my miscarriage story back last year and the response I had from it was amazing. People providing support who I don't even know and better yet, I had a flood of emails (and still do) from women going through it too, saying how comforting it was to read. Now that is why I blog!
I also enjoy the parenting blogger community that comes with blogging, particularly on Twitter. Other bloggers are so supportive and it's nice to have a group of "friends" who really understand what you're going through and that you can share ideas and experiences with.
Thank you to all the bloggers who got involved with this post - if you do anything similar, be sure to let me know!
I hope you enjoyed getting to know me and my experience of motherhood a little more :)
