HAVE WE STARTED BUYING BABY STUFF YET?

Is there a right time to start buying baby stuff?

I guess that answer depends on you. Some of us don't feel comfortable buying anything until we've at least seen our little bean and know that everything is going smoothly. However others get super excited and want to start adding to their baby stash as soon as possible.

I have to say that I am one of those that would rather wait until I know everything is ok - I just don't want to jinx myself. But that hasn't stopped family members from buying stuff for the new-addition-to-be.

I have a big, or rather quite large, obsession with pandas - if it has a panda on it, I've probably got it. So far we've received two items, both panda-related, which comes as no surprise. One is a small cuddly toy and the other is a baby hooded towel from George at Asda, which I think is adorable. I can't wait to use this!

My husband has been telling people that it doesn't matter whether we have a girl or a boy, because it's going to be a panda. This makes me laugh because little does he know (until he reads this) that I've already been looking at panda baby grows and onesies.

Ok then, moving on from the panda obsession...

I think we are planning to start properly shopping for baby items once we've had the 20 week scan and know what gender our bean is going to be - yes we want to find out, I'm way too impatient to wait. I've made a list on my phone of the necessities, with links to items I like online. I'm pretty organised.

A tip I've seen online is to start gradually buying items, spreading the cost out, rather than panic-buying everything within the last month for example. A lot of the items such as a pram, cot and nursery furniture can become quite pricey. Also, if you're planning to have a baby shower, or know that someone will be planning one for you, bear in mind that a lot of your guests will bring gifts consisting of toys and clothes for the baby.

I'll keep you all updated on my purchases!

When did you start buying baby items? Do you have an obsession that's going to leak over to your baby (like mine with pandas)? Let me know in the comments below.
